UKG has announced the end-of-life (EoL) of all UKG InTouch 9000 timeclocks. After 31 January 2027, these devices will no longer communicate with UKG cloud solutions, and support services will cease.
This is an action-required change. Organisations using InTouch 9000 devices must plan and complete replacement before the deadline to avoid payroll disruption.
Main Timeline
- Announcement: 9 July 2025
- Per-event depot repair ended: 30 June 2025
- Touch ID option support ends: 30 September 2025
- End-of-Life date: 31 January 2027
- Who’s affected: Customers using UKG InTouch 9000 devices with UKG Pro WFM, UKG Ready, or UKG Workforce Central (cloud)
- Action required: Replace all InTouch 9000 devices before 31 January 2027
- Rollback: None – communications will be disabled after the deadline
The documentation does not specify regional exclusions. Unless advised otherwise in your UKG communication, ANZ customers should assume this applies.
Timeline for support, maintenance, and device operability
- Sales of InTouch 9000 ended in June 2016
- Per-event depot repair ended 30 June 2025
- Touch ID biometric option support ended 30 September 2025
- All support services will end 31 January 2027
- Device communications with UKG cloud products will be disabled 31 January 2027
From an operational standpoint, January 2027 is a hard stop. After this date, punch collection via InTouch 9000 devices will no longer function in supported cloud environments.
What’s Ending
This change affects the hardware lifecycle, support model, and system connectivity.
- No equipment repairs or replacement services
- No firmware updates
- No technical support
- No compatibility with UKG Ready, UKG Pro Workforce Management, or UKG Workforce Central (cloud)
If clocks remain in production beyond this date, employees will be unable to record punches through those devices, directly impacting payroll processing.
Why?
UKG has cited aging software and limited availability of replacement parts as the drivers for retirement.
For IT and HRIS teams, this is a standard hardware lifecycle event rather than a product issue. The key risk is operational continuity if replacement is delayed.
Recommended Alternative
UKG’s recommended replacement is the UKG InTouch DX device.
- TouchFree ID face biometrics option (touchless identification)
- More durable capacitive touchscreen
- Faster processor and increased memory
- Compatibility with current and future UKG cloud solutions
Where appropriate, organisations may also consider alternative punch collection methods aligned to their workforce strategy.
Migration Path
Replacement planning should begin well before FY26 budgeting cycles close.
- Audit current device inventory and confirm InTouch 9000 models
- Assess site-by-site deployment requirements
- Confirm procurement lead times for InTouch DX devices
- Plan phased replacement to avoid payroll risk
- Decommission legacy devices prior to 31 January 2027
Customers operating both InTouch 9000 and 9100 models are encouraged to align device strategy and avoid staggered refresh cycles.

Note: The InTouch 9100 H4 is not currently impacted, but long-term budgeting for replacement by end of 2028 is recommended.
Support During Transition
Support remains available under contract through 31 January 2027.
- Per-event depot repair is no longer available
- Touch ID option repairs cease after 30 September 2025
Organisations relying on unsupported maintenance models should prioritise accelerated replacement planning.
